The symposium

What is SynEARC?

SynEARC is an annual FREE one-day postgraduate student led symposium that is organized with the aim of generating awareness in the advances in synthetic biology as well as its applications in both basic research and industry. We are funded by the Eastern Academic Research Consortium (EARC), which is a collaboration network between the Universities of East Anglia, Essex  and Kent. This our third symposium and after our first two, which were very well received, we are collaborating with the Faculty of History at UKC to bring more interdisciplinarity and broaden our scope.

New Worlds of Synthetic Biology

For this year we are aiming for speakers to cover a range of topics from:

  • Genome engineering

  • Industrial biotechnology

  • Science communication

  • Biosecurity
